PROXIMITIES: From Emilia-Romagna to Europe, New Connections for Sustainable Territorial Development

Clust-ER Economia Urbana participated in Craiova (Romania) in the activities of the European PROXIMITIES project, funded by the Interreg Europe program and dedicated to promoting the “city of proximity” model through dialogue and the exchange of experiences among European partners.

The initiative aims to support the development of more sustainable, accessible, and resilient urban policies, with a particular focus on outlying areas and local services, drawing inspiration from the principles of the so-called “15-minute city.”

Clust-ER’s participation was made possible thanks to an invitation from the City of Reggio Emilia and the E35 Foundation, a Clust-ER member and project partner, and represented an important opportunity for international dialogue with European public administrations, organizations, and stakeholders engaged in sustainable urban development.

During the visit, Stefania Migazzi, Clust-ER Manager of Clust-ER Economia Urbana, presented the Clust-ER’s activities, the value of its ecosystem, and some of the initiatives developed in Emilia-Romagna on the topics of urban regeneration, community-based services, and territorial innovation.

The regional initiative of the Emilia-Romagna Urban and Proximity Hubs, an innovative policy tool introduced by Regional Law 12/2023, generated particular interest. This initiative promotes collaboration among public entities, businesses, and local communities to strengthen the economic, social, and commercial vitality of local areas.

Participation in PROXIMITIES also provided a concrete opportunity to showcase the expertise and experience developed at the regional level, foster the exchange of best practices, and build new connections for future international collaborations on the themes of sustainable and inclusive territorial development.

For Clust-ER Economia Urbana, dialogue between territories and European cooperation are strategic tools for addressing the challenges of contemporary urban systems and generating new opportunities for innovation and shared growth.

Clust-ER Economia Urbana thanks the City of Reggio Emilia, the E35 Foundation, and all the partners of the PROXIMITIES project for the invitation and for this valuable opportunity for discussion.
